Ratings Explained
We use a 5 star rating system, from 0 to 5 stars. A 3 star rating reflects an average experience, typical of other Bars, Restaurants and Gogo bars in the same area. A 3 star rating provides a good experience in our opinion and should not be perceived as a negative. Any thing above 3 stars is a superior experience.
Our goal is to provide accurate, unbiased information for tourists and expats. We visit locations anonymously to ensure fairness, with no favoritism.
As many things have changed over the past 3 to 5 years we’re also building a comprehensive directory of Beer bars, Regular bars, Restaurants, Massage Shops and other Night Clubs.
Bar / Beer Bar / Gogo Bars
Additional Criteria not listed in the following examples are used for Restaurant / Bars and for Massage Shops.
Drinks
Rates the quality and pricing against the other bars in the area. Better prices and better pours get a better rating as it reflects that quality is above average.
Ladies
Rates the quality and selection of the ladies/ entertainers against other bars in the area. A higher percentage of energetic and attractive ladies earns a higher score.
Lady Drinks
Rates the quality and pricing against the other bars in the area. Better prices get a better rating, higher prices and multiple drink minimums get a lower score if not in line with other bars in the area.
Atmosphere
Rates the cleanliness, quality and comfort of the environment. A bar with better seating, better views or an updated look compared to other bars in the area earns a higher rating.
Staff
Rates the quality of service and experience as compared to other bars in the area and baseline expectations. Staff who are friendly, prompt, playful and take the time to explain the specials, pricing and lady drinks earn higher scores.
Overall Rating
This is the average of all criteria that we use to rate locations. As before, 3 stars is average when compared to the other bars in the area.
A bar with a 3 star rating or higher provides a good to great experience in our opinion and should not be perceived as a negative review.
