Post-Renovation Check-In on Soi Cowboy
Just wrapped up a quick tour of some soi Cowboy staples to see what’s changed and what has stayed the same. Here’s the rundown:
Shark
Leo Price: 180 THB
Music: Passable
The Scene: Fresh off their renovations, Shark has reopened with a new look. The changes are fine, nothing that’ll blow you away, but serviceable enough. Makes you wonder if closing down for the work was really necessary.
The bigger issue is the talent pool. Most of the familiar faces from before are gone, leaving only 3 – 4 genuinely cute girls in rotation. Oh, and they’re still rocking Halloween bikinis well past the holiday. Not sure if that’s commitment to a theme or just forgetfulness.
Verdict: Skip unless you’re already on Cowboy with nothing better to do.
Dollhouse
Leo Price: 115 THB / Good Happy Hour Prices
Music: Tolerable
The Scene: A pleasant surprise. Dollhouse is currently outperforming Shark in the talent department, with several attractive dancers including some going fully nude. At this price point for a Leo and with better talent on stage, it’s currently offering better value.
Verdict: Worth a stop on your Cowboy tour.
Tilac
Leo Price: 180 THB (and it tasted slightly off)
Music: Tolerable
The Scene: How do I put this diplomatically? The talent situation is, as Charles Barkley would say, “tuurible.” Maybe one girl reached the “okay-ish” threshold. Combined with a faint sewage smell lingering in the air and an overpriced Leo that wasn’t even fresh, this was easily the lowlight of the evening.
Verdict: Hard pass. There are too many other options to waste time here.
Rainbow
Leo Price: 165 THB
Music: Tolerable
The Scene: Thoroughly mediocre. Only 3 – 4 girls on stage at any given time and the talent level was nothing special. The staff seemed a bit overeager and pushy, which didn’t help the atmosphere. On the plus side, they’re already fully decorated for Christmas, if you’re into that sort of thing in late November.
Verdict: Middle of the road. Not offensive, but nothing compelling either.
The Bottom Line
If you’re doing a Soi Cowboy run right now, Dollhouse is your best bet for talent and value. Shark’s renovations didn’t translate to an improved experience, and Tilac should be avoided entirely until they sort out their issues. Rainbow is there if you need it, but you’re not missing much if you skip it.
As always, your mileage may vary depending on the night and what time you show up. Almost all places have some kind of happy hour with the Dollhouse taking the win in this department.
